Daily Dose subscribers are invited to join a cruise from Athens to Rome (Note that OUR itinerary is the reverse order of the link above). The cruise dates are January 10-17, 2027. Additionally, there is an optional 2 day hotel stay in Rome for guided tours of the city.
Estimated Price
- There are various levels of cabins on the cruise that you may choose from, but the most basic is around $2799 per person (though the price may fluxuate, and sales could reduce the price).
- The cost of a Viking cruise in January is about half the cost of what it would be in May.
- Viking may be able to get you reduced airfare for the flight to Athens and return from Rome, though you may prefer to book your air travel yourself.
- The optional extra 2 days of hotel and tours in Rome is $1199 per person.

What to expect
- In January, the archaeological sites are not as crowded as they usually would be. Expect the daily temperature range to be 40-60 degrees (Fahrenheit).
- Daily Dose travelers will obviously share the boat with others, but our group can sit together at meals. Viking has excellent reviews for food and service!
- Though there are official tour guides for the stops in Athens, Ephesus, Pompeii, etc., Viking said it would be fine for our group to have some additional instruction/devotions.
- There will also be optional daily Greek scripture readings in the evenings.
- Rob and Chandi Plummer will be doing both the cruise and the extra 2 days of touring in Rome.
Reservations for this trip
- It is only $25 to reserve your spot on the cruise. The balance is due to Viking June 15, 2026.
- The less expensive cabins will fill up quick! Additionally, the price of the cruise only increases as the date gets closer. Since the cost to reserve a spot is so low, if you are interested in going, reserve a spot!
- If you would like to stay for the extra 2 days in Rome and want to upgrade your hotel, you can contact the hotel directly for upgrade options.
