Meet Rob Plummer

Rob Plummer is a dedicated New Testament professor at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. With a fervent passion for the Greek language, Rob has inspired countless students to delve into the original texts of the New Testament. His commitment to teaching Greek stems from a desire to equip pastors and believers with the tools necessary to engage deeply with the scriptures. Through The Daily Dose of Greek, Rob provides a platform for ongoing learning and accountability, ensuring that the beauty and complexity of the Greek language remain accessible to all who seek it.
Recognizing the challenges faced by busy pastors and laypeople, he created this website as a resource to maintain and enhance their Greek proficiency. His efforts are driven by a vision to see more christians equipped to read and interpret the Bible in its original language and fostering a richer understanding of God’s Word.
All the Biblical Languages
The Daily Dose ministry produces daily videos across various biblical languges, including Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic, and Latin. Through these various websites, we provide ongoing accountability to busy pastors and other Christians, helping them to read the biblical languages daily and progress in their language skills.
For every tribe and tongue
Readers of the Greek New Testament around the world can also find Daily Dose of Greek videos in their native lagnauge. We have now expanded our offerings, with native speaking teachers of Greek producing Daily Dose of Greek videos in Spanish, Korean, and Chinese.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who are you, and why are you doing this?
I am Rob Plummer, a professor of New Testament Interpretation at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. I started the Daily Dose of Greek to help my former students, pastors and other serious Christians keep reading their Greek New Testaments for life! As we read the Greek New Testament, we come to know God better and love him more deeply. What greater purpose could we have?
I could never have started the Daily Dose without the amazing assistance and encouragement of my volunteer webmaster, Brad Clark, who is a full-time pilot. Jonathan Ahlgren currently manages the website and administrative needs. Many others have also helped us. Thanks to all!
What software do you use?
The Greek text is cut & pasted from BibleWorks into Microsoft OneNote. I use the “Draw” feature in OneNote and a writeable Wacom tablet (with a stylus), recording all the fun with Camtasia. Someone else set it up for me, so please don’t ask me how to do it.
Can I take an actual class with you?
Sure. Southern Seminary offers online and on-campus classes. If you are not looking for a seminary education, I also lead Adullam Reading Courses where I lead a community of learners though a book of the New Testament.
What else can I do to improve my Greek?
I recommend a book: Going Deeper with New Testament Greek, a student-friendly intermediate Greek grammar I co-authored. Also, I recommend a series of guidebooks on the books of the NT – see the Exegetical Guide to the Greek New Testament series.
Why don't you use modern Greek pronunciation?
Most New Testament scholars use Erasmian pronunciation. It’s what I learned, so I think there’s no changing it now. You may notice a slight Southern twang to my Erasmian pronunciation. I’m originally from Tennessee.
I signed up for the daily email, but I am not receiving it?
Two main problems can exist. First, when you fill out our sign-up form, you should immediately receive a confirmation email asking you to verify you want to receive our daily emails. If you do not click the verification, you will not be added to our list. You must click the verification email link.
Second issue is our emails potentially being blocked by your server or email program as “Spam”. Please look in your “Spam” folder, “Promotions” folder, or anyplace else it might be automatically moved by your server. There is a potential that your employer or school may be filtering our email completely. Please contact your IT department if you suspect this. If you are still having problems, please email us at [email protected] and we will add your name to our system. One last favor. If you know of anyone else having problems, please tell them to contact me as well.
Is there any cost for receiving the Daily Dose videos?
No. Everything is available for free. We do, however, have regular costs accosted with the production and distribution of our videos and are glad to receive donations. A big thank you to those who have donated. Click here to find out how to donate.
Who is your most illustrious subscriber?
Someone said President Obama is a subscriber… but that person is a liar. The chaplain to the Queen of England, however, has written a nice endorsement for us.
Are you open to suggestions/requests?
Sure. No promises, but feel free to send your suggestions and requests to [email protected], note that I tape videos up to 2 months in advance, so even if I can incorporate your suggestion, it might take a couple of months.
Is there something like this for Hebrew?
Yes. The Daily Dose of Hebrew.
